Going the distance

Sounds like we will be going to Portland in August. Which means preparing now for long hours on a bike. Just like the Mercer Island Water Polo team (state champs) is gearing up for long hours in the pool.

So... The 13th is on a Sunday and Nate brought it to my attention that this would be a great opportunity to shake the cob-webs off the distance riding legs and perhaps start shifting gears from riding "near with beer" to "far with bars".

Anyway, I seconded his motion to ride east, do a bit of distance (not too much) by doing a clockwise circumnavigation of the island of my employ and finish with a toast at the Roanoke before heading back to a Seattle ZIP code for more toasting as success is guaranteed.

Seattle To Portland For Free - August 6-8

Ok bunnies and hawks. The deal is this: Last year Brandon, Monica, Joe and I rode the STP4FREE. It was pretty awesome. This year, a certain bunnyhawk will be getting married on the weekend of the actual ride, thus prohibiting other bunnies and hawks from wanting to ride this year.

The solution? We ride on the first weekend in August. This will accomplish the following:
1. Delay the ride for the sanctity of marriage
2. Let us ride AFTER the event so we can use the road markings
3. Let us ride with fewer D-bags on the road
4. Act as one giant Birthday party for Brandon
5. Get a cheap, non-sold-out hotel room so we don't have to worry about a tent
6. Allow everyone to ride for free and not feel guilty for pirating the ride
7. Lessen the number of times you hear "on your left" - yeah, no shit...
8. Place the ride in American Adventures Month, World Breastfeeding Week, and Single Working Women's Week
9. Shorten the wait time at the Olympic Inn in Centralia at the half way point
10. Be fun for all

Lucky 13

We got a few people together to ride a very short distance.(might be the shortest BH ride yet). Got sukered in to the BIG beers at the Triange and proceded to learn a new lesson:



Talking about money during an economic downturn hurts peoples feelings.

Mayday! Mayday! Mayday!

Okay. So this is a week late, but let's still ride for the Pagan celebration of Bealtain. I know it's been a while, so this will be a mellow one (but doesn't have to stay that way.) Start at noon at the sculpture garden beach. Proceed to the boxcar. Cross the locks to the tin hat. Over to the little red hen. Down to the zoo on eastlake. This is a democratic club, so substitutions will be welcome!

When: Saturday May 8th


Where: Olympic Sculpture Park beach (you know what I mean)


Who: ALL Bunnyhawks plus anyone else who knows how to rock


Why: If you have to ask, then you can go to hell!

Two Things

First. My folks will be in from out of town and I would like to get my dad (and maybe my mom) out for a ride so we can add them as official members of the club instead of just honorary BhawkS.
So I propose this: We ride some time either Friday afternoon/evening or Saturday late morning/afternoon. I mean I'm just dying to see my dad take down a roadmaster while cruising the Eliot Bay bike trail. Aren't you?

Second. We CANNOT miss next months lucky 13. I don't know what happened this month but we really dropped the ball. I'm surprised my baby was born normal. I was sure the fates were going to have their way with me. (Actually they did erase a comment I made on Greg's post from yesterday...so I didn't exactly escape unscathed.)

Third. This weekend is the Derby Party. Same place as last year. I have a baby so won't be staying long, BUT, you all can get as drunk as you want and cross dress to your hearts content. See the post from last May around this time for photo evidence of Kentucky style debauchery.
